Dorothy Viele Moreth

Dorothy Viele Moreth, formerly of Springfield, died at the age of 91, in Upland, CA on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Dorothy was born April 22, 1918 in Springfield, the daughter of Loreto and Giuseppina (Baliva) Viele. She married Joseph Moreth on June 27, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1970. She retired from Queen of Valley Hospital in West Covina, CA after 21 years of service. As a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alta Loma, CA, she was an active participant of the women's council. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and entertaining guests in her home. Also preceding her in death was her son, Joel; five brothers, Victor, Fred, Nino, Herman and Ercole (Bowser) Viele; and three sisters, Italia Ridolfi, Jeanie Viele, and Vivian Nierhoff. She is survived by her son Gerry (wife Emily) of Beaumont, CA; two grandsons, Perry (wife Michelle) of Pasadena, CA and Rick (wife Barbara) of Riverside, CA; a granddaughter, Misty (husband Jeremy) Dean of Beaumont, CA, six great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Also surviving are a sister, Velma Mayes; and a brother, Thomas Viele of Springfield. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at St. Aloysius Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Rev. Mark Schulte celebrant.
