
Dorothy L Wolff, 95, of Springfield, died on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her children. Dorothy was born on August 10, 1912 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Eric and Anna Danielson Holmgren. She married Alfred C Wolff in 1936; he preceded her in death in 1954. Dorothy graduated from Brooklyn College in 1933. In 1957, she began a twenty-year career of teaching kindergarten in the New York school districts of East Nassau and New Lebanon. A lover of music and an accomplished pianist, she took pleasure playing for school functions, including Kindergarten graduations for her numerous students. Upon retiring in 1977, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and volunteered with numerous community libraries. She continued her volunteer work after moving to Illinois in 1994, including the Brookens Library at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Dorothy was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Ann, and two brothers, Eric and Herbert Holmgren. She is survived by three sons: Alfred (MaryAnna) of Castleton, NY, Peter of Springfield, and Bill (Barbara) of Chatham, NY; one daughter: JoAnn (Dale) Isaacs of Sherman; ten grandchildren: Brian, Todd and Bradley Isaacs, Wendy Fernandez, William, Bonnie, Rachel and Kimberly Wolff, Jean Rossi and Melissa Melton; fourteen great grandchildren. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. A memorial ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th, Springfield.
