

Edith F. “Edie” Gilman, 83, passed away on Friday, September 5, at Memorial Medical Center. Edie was born July 28, 1931, in Waverly, IL the daughter of the late Thomas and Iona (Baggerly) Stanberry. She married Raymond Gilman on November 5, 1949, in Piggott, AR, he preceded her in death in 1989. Edie worked locally in the restaurant industry for many over 40 years. She worked at the Georgian Restaurant, Fritz's Wagon Wheel, Chesapeake Seafood House, and finally retired from Gabatoni's as a hostess. Edie was a hard worker, she loved spending time with her family, she especially loved to travel with her family. Her favorite trips were to Las Vegas and to Floriada.
Surviving Edie is her children: Debbie Langan, Bill (Susan) Gilman, Jim (Debbie) Gilman, Cindy Gilman, and Jeri (Gaylon Williams) Gilman, all of Springfield, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother Thomas (Phyllis) Stanberry of Ashmore, IL, sister Delores (Bela) Sator of Mechanicsburg, as well as several nieces nephews and cousins.
Edie was also preceded in death by a sister Iva Tuttle.
Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday, September 8, from 4-8 pm. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Paul Hemenway will be held on Tuesday, September 9, at 10 am at the funeral
home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
