Edna Marie Kennedy, 90, of Springfield, died at 1:43 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. Edna married Roy Edward Kennedy on August 3, 1946, at St. Josephs Church. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1993. First and foremost, Edna loved and treasured her family more than life itself. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, kindness, generosity, and a keen sense of humor. After graduating Salutatorian of her class from Springfield High, she worked for Sangamo Electric and eventually retired from the State as the Manager of the Technical Services Section for the Information Services Division of the Illinois Department of Public Aid in 1988. If you ever needed someone to talk to, she was always there to listen and give advice; she knew exactly what to say. Edna enjoyed reading, traveling, completing crossword puzzles in pen, golfing, bowling, Facebook, Fox News, and a good Manhattan. Edna will always be our legacy of love as nothing meant more to her than her family. She is survived by her daughters: Frances (husband, Robert) Wyeth of West Seneca, NY, Patricia Folker, Mary Kay (husband, William) Berberet, Theresa (husband, Jerry) Seiz, and Sally (husband, Kevin) Boyle, all of Springfield; eleven grandchildren: Christopher Seiz, Erika Wyeth Boettcher, Scott Sacco, Josh Wyeth, Carrie Sacco, Eric Seiz, Brent Berberet, Natalie Boyle, Craig Berberet, Greg Boyle, and Ashley Berberet; and nine great-grandchildren: Kennedy Boettcher, Averyawna Seiz, Aidan Berberet, Claire Boettcher, Connor Downey, Gavin Rogers, Carson Berberet, Riley Berberet, and Camden Berberet. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies will be held with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
