

Edna was born in Springfield, IL on April 17, 1935, the daughter of John and Cleo Weaver Carroll. She married A. Edward Skoog on October 4, 1958; he survives. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Active for many years in civic affairs in Champaign, IL, Mrs. Skoog was a board member of the Champaign County Historical Museum, the Boys Club, Community Day Care Center, Mahomet-Seymour Boosters Club, and Junior League Thrift Shop. She was a life member of Cornell University Alumnae, University of Illinois Foundation, Alpha Phi, and DAR. She was also president of the Junior League of Champaign and the United Way of Champaign County, being active in both groups for many years. From 1978 to 1998, she was active as a Real Estate Broker in Champaign County, IL.
Upon retirement she became a Florida resident, but had been a "snow bird" in Sarasota County for more than 60 years, and a property owner there for about 30 years. She started her hobby of genealogy, took up duplicate bridge, and became a Life Master of ACBL and a member of the Venice Audubon Society. Edna was also an avid Cubs fan.
Survivors include her husband, Edward; a daughter, Susan Fairfield (Emmet) of Chatham IL; two sons, Alvin Edward Skoog, Jr. (Janet) of Westfield, IN and John Eric Skoog (Sherri) of Antioch, IL; six grandchildren, Kady and Emmet (Katie) Fairfield and Lauren, Mike (Moira), Gunnar and Hannah Skoog; a brother, Dick Carroll (Anne) of Houston, TX; three nieces, Mindy C. Rodgers, Susan Dickinson, and Libby Carroll; and four nephews, Mike Carroll, David Draper, Brian Carroll and Travis Carroll.
Cremation care was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Edna: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Concordia Village Chapel, 4101 West Iles, Springfield. A Celebration of Edna will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Concordia Village Chapel.
