

Edward was born July 18, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Charles E. and Mary M. Jacaway Erickson. He married Marilyn T. Gannan on July 17, 1954 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. She preceded him in death in 2005.
Ed was a graduate of Lanphier High School in 1945 where he played baseball and sang in the choir for four years. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII and the Army during the Korean War. He worked as an electronic sales rep for Klaus Radio & Electronics out of Peoria for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Ed was a former Christ the King usher and choir member and a parishioner for over 50 years.
He was one of the three members of the Easy E's singing group, former KC #364 member, American Business Club, President of the Electronics Distribution AssociationCentral IL District and the Elks Club. Ed coached Khoury League baseball for nine years, played fast pitch softball for the Quality Furniture team and was inducted in 1999 to the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame, as part of the One Day Cleaners basketball team. He enjoyed watching sports, painting pictures and especially singing.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kim Jameson; one brother, Charles "Duby" Erickson; and sister-in-law, Norma Erickson.
He is survived by his son, Mark (wife, Julie) Erickson of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jenna and Jake Erickson, both of Springfield and Brett Jameson of Manchester, NH; one brother, Donald E. (wife, Sharon) Erickson of Springfield; son-in-law, John Jameson of Naperville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Erickson of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
