Edward W. Goetz

Edward W. Goetz, 76, of Springfield, died at 10:26 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Edward was born February 1, 1929 in Springfield the son of Otto and Lucille Burg Goetz. He married Marguerite Corrigan; she preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Jean Crowell on April 17, 1988 in Connersville, IN. Mr. Goetz, a 1948 Cathedral Boys High School graduate, was the General Field Superintendent for R.D. Lawrence Construction Company; he retired in 1992 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #16, the Holy Name Society and a member of Elks Club Lodge #158 where he also served as Exalted Ruler. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Shawn and Jason Goetz. He is survived by wife: Jean Goetz of Springfield; five sons: John Goetz of Petersburg, Michael (wife, Sue) Goetz, Timothy (wife, Debra) Goetz, David Goetz and Gregory (wife, Susan) Goetz all of Springfield; two daughter: Mary Midiri and Katherine (husband, James) Ambrose both Springfield; eighteen grandchildren; one great grandchild and one uncle: Karl Goetz of Germany. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Elks Lodge #158 will perform a service at 7:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Robert J. Jallas principal celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, IL 62702.
