Edward Lee Mansfield

Edward Lee Mansfield, 72, of Springfield, died at 11:11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Edward was born October 13, 1935 in Hillsboro, the son of Everett and Tobitha Bremer Mansfield. He married Lois B. Johnson in Litchfield on June 7, 1969. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was employed at Sangamon Paper Company in Taylorville for thirteen years from 1953 to 1966. Edward then worked at Marine Bank from 1967 to 1969. From 1969 to 1998 he was employed at the Illinois State Department of Revenue until his retirement after twenty-nine years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Louis, John, Samuel, and Raymond Mansfield; and one sister, Frances Bayne. Edward is survived by his wife, Lois Mansfield of Springfield; his brother, Benjamin (wife, Vicki) Mansfield of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00-9:45 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 with Pastor Darrell L. Debowey, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
