In 1965, the Dahlhauser family moved to Springfield, where Liz attended Blessed Sacrament School and formed lifelong friendships. She went on to attend Springfield High School, where she met the love of her life, Jim Cadwell, at the local Dairy Queen. They were married on April 19, 1975, and just recently celebrated 50 wonderful years together.
Liz and Jim were blessed with two children, Jennifer Lynn and Jimmy. Liz was preceded in death by their daughter Jenny on December 13, 2012.
Throughout her life, Liz was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She spent the last sixteen years of her career registering patients in the Emergency Room at Memorial Medical Center, a role she took great pride in. Before that, she worked for many years at One Hour Martinizing and began her working life as a teenager in food service at Skelly’s Truck Stop.
A naturally creative soul, Liz expressed herself through colorful home design and handmade crafts. She enjoyed sewing, especially drapes, and documenting family travels, camping and canoeing and special moments, in vibrant photo albums. In her younger years, she found joy and freedom riding her Kawasaki motorcycle.
Liz was known for her quick wit, vibrant spirit, and remarkable sense of humor. She loved her family deeply and had a unique ability to bring laughter and warmth to any room she entered. She truly was the life of the party.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim; son, Jimmy; and all who knew and loved her.
Liz is also survived by her brother, Steven Dahlhauser; and sisters Barbara Dahlhauser, Deborah Pierson, and Jenny Barnard; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The Family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL.
