Elizabeth (“Betty”) Pearl Milnes, 100, of Springfield, passed comfortably into the arms of the Lord on September 9, 2018 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on May 28, 1918 in Steger, Illinois to George and Maude L. Arment Bock. Betty married Ralph Milnes on June 12, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1987.
Betty has left to cherish her memory, her son Robert (Patricia) Milnes of Springfield, five grandchildren: Christine (Dale) Ruble, Jeff (Karen) Milnes, Mark (Jill) Milnes, Wendy Milnes and Jenny (Dan) Cronin as well as eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Milnes.
Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, birdwatching, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, attending church, making jam and cooking breakfast for her surviving son for 31 years.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday September 14, 2018 at Calvary Church, Jefferson Street Campus, with Pastor Paul Rose and Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. The family will meet friends from 10:30am until the time of service Friday at Calvary. A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday September 15, 2018 at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Illinois.
