Elsie Mae Drengwitz

She was born in Patoka, IL Jan. 7, 1927 the daughter of Christian and Elsie (Fritscher) Protz. After her graduation from high school, Elsie graduated from the Sparks Business College. She married Robert Drengwitz Sept. 29, 1948 and he preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Anderson, and three granddaughters; Missy, Amy and Heather Anderson in 1991, two brothers, Fred and John Protz, and two sisters; Helen Bunten and Anna Bareither.

Elsie retired as a supervisor from Illinois Bell Telephone in 1983 after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Illinois Bell Telephone Pioneers and as an avid bowler, was a member of various bowling leagues for many years. A strong woman of faith, she was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS for many years and served on the Parent Teacher Association.

She is survived by her children: James (wife Patricia) Drengwitz of Pontiac, IL, Terry Drengwitz of St. Peters, MO, and Becky (husband Jerry) Lunt of Quincy, IL. There are five grandchildren: Jason (wife Becky) Drengwitz of Bloomington, IL, Ande (husband Sean) Masoncup of Geneva, IL, Matt (wife Katie) Drengwitz of Johnstown, CO, Jared (wife Emilie) Lunt of Liberty, MO, and Jamie Lunt of Normal, IL. She has 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Service: The Drengwitz family will greet friends on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL 62711 from 9:30 am until time of the funeral service there at 10:30 am. Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
