Elsie R. McCollum

She was born on Dec. 8, 1919 in Springfield, the daughter of the late George Henry and Margaret Augusta (Mix) Ratz. She married Everett McCollum and he preceded her in death.

Elsie worked as an accountant most recently at the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts. She had previously worked for Kraft Foods, Myers Brothers, and Federated Funeral Directors. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield.

She is survived by 3 nephews, Charles W. Ratz of Springfield, David W. (wife Laura) Ratz of Springfield and Douglas Ross of Overland Park, KS, 2 great-nieces, Mariya and Tiera, and other extended family.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles and George Ratz and Harold Ross, and her niece Karen Sue Ratz.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, where a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 10 am until time of the memorial service at 11 am. The memorial service will also be held at the funeral home, with Rev. Paul Hemenway officiating. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
