

Emma Lee Johnson, 82, of Springfield, was called home to be with the Lord at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Emma was born December 2, 1924 in Stacey, Arkansas, the daughter of Duley and Flossie Thompson Daniels. She married Edward Johnson in 1941 in Chicago; he preceded her in death. Emma was a homemaker. She was a member of Abundant Faith Church. She enjoyed cooking, writing children’s books and especially being with her family. She also had a gift for nurturing and encouraging people around her. She embraced everyone that she came into contact with a winning smile and kind words. She was also preceded in death by one son: Michael Johnson and two granddaughters: Dienessa Johnson and Vanasia Johnson. She is survived by two sons: Steven Johnson of Harvey and Gary (wife, Dienessa)Johnson of Chicago; six daughters: Rita Lewis of Park Forest, Barbara McGee of Chicago Heights, Marscia (husband, Ken) Kransdorf-Brooks of Forest Park, Emily Kenny of Park Forest, Karen (husband, Anthony) Toney of Richton Park and Sandra Davis of Springfield; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with her grandson Elder Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Repast immediately following burial at Abundant Faith Christian Center, 700 S. Livingston, Springfield.
