
Esther Marie (Marchetti) Davis, 84, a long-time resident of Springfield, departed this life on Sunday, January 18, 2004. Born December 23, 1919 in Iron River, Michigan, Esther, an accomplished artist, attended school in Springfield. After her marriage to Charles E. Davis on September 5, 1942, Esther traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe for many years and eventually returned to Springfield in 1973 to devote her life and energy to caring for those she loved and cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Cucciolone) and Carmine Marchetti of Springfield, her infant son, Timothy and two sisters, Emma Nehring and Helen Midiri. Esther is honored and will be missed by those she leaves behind. Her husband, Charles, of Springfield, children Carolyn (Kerry) Vanderhoof (husband, John) of Overland Park, KS, Gayle Swoik (husband, Tom) of Springfield, Jeffrey Davis of Las Vegas, NV, her grandchildren Susan Vanderhoof Hartnett and Jeffrey Hartnett of Lenexa, KS, Michael and Lawra Vanderhoof of Lakewood, CO, Thomas (TJ) Swoik of Springfield, Sara and Patrick Krepps of McMinnville, Oregon, and Jaime and Carl Linderman of Springfield, great-granddaughters Lysle and Layne Hartnett of Lenexa, KS, sisters Gallie Johnson and Fannie Jones, both of Springfield, together with other relatives and close family friends will join together at a private service to celebrate Esther's life on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Arrangements are handled by Kirlin, Egan & Butler and will include a brief service at Calvary Cemetery.
