

Esther Ruth Timko, 91, of Girard, IL, formerly of Georgetown, IL, passed away on January 6, 2018, at her home. She was born January 23, 1926, in Worland, WY, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Link. Esther married Joseph Paul Timko on November 27, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, husband, son William, and daughter, Bonnie Jost. Esther spent her early years as a waitress at the Deluxe Restaurant (Danville) and then as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She then became a cook at St. Marys School (Westville) and worked as a seamstress at the Woolen Wear sewing factory (Georgetown). She was known for her baking and cooking always had cookies and tea available for company. Her love was her garden and flowers. In that, she enjoyed the migrating birds that would visit. She especially enjoyed sitting on the swing with Joe, watching the hummingbirds and wrens that would nest on the property. Esther also enjoyed quilting and created many heirlooms for family and friends. Esthers greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always took the time to play with them on their visits. Esther will be greatly missed by her children: Joseph (Lynn) Timko of Kalamazoo, MI; Patricia Timko of Camano Island, WA; Susan Carrigan of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Penny Williams of Bullhead City, AZ; Phillip Timko of Portage, MI ; Stephen Timko of Seattle, WA; Ryan (Amanda) Carrigan of Warrenville, IL; Jon (fiance Erin Welch) Carrigan of Washington, IL; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob Joshua Carrigan of Warrenville, IL; her best friend, Marvelle Adkisson, and many nieces and nephews. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. Her family will greet friends and share memories on Saturday, January 13, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 231 N. State St., Westville, IL, at 10 am, until the time of service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter Paul Cemetery, Westville, IL. A Celebration of Life gathering will be celebrated at a later date. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church.
