Evelyn Jean Farris

She was born in Gibson City April 17, 1924. She Married Glen F. Burke who preceded her in death in 1971, she later married Kenneth H. Farris who preceded her in death in 2008.

Evelyn was a graduate of St. Joseph's Nursing School in Bloomington and Barnes Hospital School of Anesthesia in St. Louis. She had worked for 34 years as a Nurse Anesthetist at Memorial Medical Center.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club, Springfield Art Association, Springfield Symphony Guild and Willing Circle of King's Daughters. She was a former member of Illini Country Club and the Sangamo Club. Evelyn will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, volunteerism and prize winning roses.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy(husband, Craig) DesChenes of Costa Rica; granddaughters, Olivia DesChenes of Boston and Julia DesChenes of Evanston; Step sons, Todd Farris of Milwaukee,WI and Tom Farris of Weldon; step daughter, Stacey Mikelson of Denver, CO.; one sister, Virginia Hoover of Normal and sister in law Joanne Craddick of Ypsilanti, MI.

Friends may call Friday Apr. 17, 2009 at Christ Episcopal Church from 10:30 AM until the time of memorial services there at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Gregory Tournoux and Rev. Allynn Walker officiating. Interment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel s in charge of arrangements.
