

Wife, mother, hospice counselor, community volunteer, and friend to many, Evelyn "Ahbee" Robinson passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, at St. John's Hospital. Evelyn Staab, daughter of Aletha and Paul Staab, was born January 10, 1930 in Taylorville, Illinois. Ahbee graduated from Springfield High School with a large and close group of friends whom she kept for the rest of her life. She graduated from Pine Manor Junior College in 1950, and married Philip L. Robinson on September 7, 1950. He preceded her in death in December 2001. Ahbee had a rich and full life. Beyond her dedication to marriage, family, and her Catholic faith, she was active in the community, volunteering with the Junior League, Land of Lincoln Girl Scout Council, and Springfield Art Association. After finishing her MA at Sangamon State University in 1976, she became a staff member in the pastoral and patient counseling department at St. John's Hospital. When the Hospice Program was established, she worked in that program for 25 years. Ahbee is survived by her four children, Henson, Aletha, Sally, and Jennifer; two grandchildren, Susan Field and Henson C. Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Melinda and Ryan Field; and her sister, Joan Aletha Casper. Visitation: 10:00 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Jeffrey Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
