Fletcher P. "John" Utterback

Fletcher P. “John” Utterback, 85, of Springfield died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Fletcher was born April 23, 1919 in Springfield the son of Harvey and Margaret Fletcher Utterback. He married Jeanette B. Brennan on August 4, 1948 in Decatur; she preceded him in death on July 28, 1990. Mr. Utterback was a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School and Brown’s Business College. He was employed by Remington-Rand prior to his employment with Franklin Life Insurance Company. He retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company after 18 years of service on September 30, 1983. He was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #557 in Decatur, and currently a member of Knight of Columbus Council #364, Elks Lodge #158, Eagles Aerie #437 and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harvey, Paul and Price Utterback and two sisters, Twyla Pierce and Frances Furrow. He is survived by his son: Phil (wife, Joyce) Utterback of Springfield; three step grandchildren: Karen (husband, Dennis) Overturf of Sherman, Connie (husband, Tom) Mulcahey of Springfield, Charles (wife, Verna) Roberts of Springfield; several step great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Kevin W. Vann celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 S.
