

Florence Mae Senkus, 88, of Springfield, died at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Florence was born on September 11, 1917 in Curran, IL the daughter of Lyman and Rachael Colvin Cox. She married Joe Senkus in Carrollton, IL; he preceded her in death on January 1, 1987. Mrs. Senkus worked as a cosmetician for Myers Brothers and Bressmer’s. She later worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company where she sold sewing machines and taught classes. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society, Third Order of St. Frances and American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). She was also involved with Catholic Daughters of America. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Shirley Welch; brothers: Harold and Clyde Cox and sister: Mabel Riggs. She is survived by one son: Joseph “Ron” (wife, Rebecca) Senkus of Springfield; granddaughter: Cynthia Welch of Springfield; three great grandchildren; four nieces and four nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
