

Francis Coady "Frank" Dineen, 80, of Springfield, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his residence. Frank was born December 23, 1936 in Springfield, the son of James and Margaret Coady Dineen. He married Judith Ann "Judi" Dineen on December 23, 1955 in Hannibal, Missouri, and they shared almost 61 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death in 2016. Frank was a graduate of Springfield High School, and he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He operated Dineen Electric after taking over the business from his father. Frank was the youngest ever master electrician in the state of Illinois to be certified at the age of 18. Frank was employed at Pillsbury for several years and retired from Illinois Bell/AT&T. He was integral in the development of fiber optics. He was actively involved with the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, going to the beach, gardening, hunting, and camping. He loved the outdoors, storytelling, and sharing ice cream with his grandchildren. Frank was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Dineen; two grandchildren, Anthony Cole Groth and Brandi Ann Marsh; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his four children, DAnn Dineen (Eugene Sellers) Cox of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dwayne Francis (Erin) Dineen of Farmersville, Debby Dineen (Toby) Baggett of Mobile, Alabama, and Daphney Marie (Craig) Randle of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Teresa "ShyAnne," Frank, Rodger, Catherine "Catie," Jeremy, Joshua, Nicole "Nicki," Kacie, Francesca Anne "Chesi," Craig Jr. "C.J.," and Taylor "Cayne;" and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut Street, Springfield, with Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will be held following the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
