Francis Duffy

Francis Duffy 85, of Springfield died at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice Unit. Francis was born on July 27, 1918 in Springfield, the son of Patrick and Janet McLaughlin Duffy. He married Helen Quinnigan on July 18, 1953 in Springfield. Francis was a lifelong resident of Springfield, a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. He retired from Springfield School District 186 in 1981. Francis was member of VFW, Post 755. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joe, Paul and Martin Duffy, and one sister, Mary Sabo. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Martin (wife Diane) Duffy of San Antonio TX, and David Duffy of Springfield; one sister, Ann Treffy of Chicago; one step grand daughter; two step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center. The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering on Friday, June 18, 2004 from 4-7:00 p.m at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th, Springfield, IL 62703.
