Frank Huffman

Frank "Gene" Huffman, 80, of New Berlin, died at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at North Church Nursing and Rehabilitation. Gene was born November 30, 1931 in Beverly, the son of Frank and Nellie Rhoades Huffman. He married Ruth Ann on December 22, 1958 in Independence, MO. Gene graduated from Liberty High School and received his bachelor's degree in business from Quincy College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and received a five-star Korean medal and citation for exceptionally meritorious service from August 1, 1952 July 27, 1953. He retired after 32 years with Social Security Administration, where he served as assistant district manager. Gene was a member of the American Legion Post 0640 and enjoyed fishing, traveling and genealogy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Eldon Huffman; and one sister, Barbara Huffman. He is survived by his wife, Ann Huffman of New Berlin; one son, Jim (wife, Ashley) Huffman of New Berlin; two grandchildren, Brandon and Henley Huffman, both of New Berlin; and one grandchild on the way. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family interment will be held at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Beverly, IL at a later date.
