

Fred was born April 2, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Fred G. and Minnie Ulm Pokora. He married Nora E. Vitali on June 25, 1961 in Springfield.
Fred attended Feitshans High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. He was owner and operator of Pokora's Grocery in Springfield for many years and retired in 1992. He enjoyed boating and fishing, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Nora E. Pokora; two sons, Mark F. Pokora and Michael W. Pokora, both of Springfield; two sisters, Betty (husband, Dale) Gronewold of Springfield and Dorothy (husband, Bill deceased) Roy of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Busboom, officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
