Gail E. Eby Chesnut

She was born on December 15, 1932 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of the late Donald J. and Lucille F. (Hewitt) Eby. She married Richard Chesnut on June 6, 1953 in Bloomington, IL. He survives.

Mrs. Chesnut worked as an executive secretary with the state of Illinois. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FU, AARP, Abbeba Temple #42 Daughters of the Nile, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, American Contract Bridge League, Illinois Wesleyan Alumni Association, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Animal Protective League and Cachet Club. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Chesnut is survived by her husband Richard “Dick”, a daughter, Dianne (husband Gene) Gyure, and a granddaughter, Amanda Gyure, all of Springfield.

Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Swickard officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Animal Protective League.
