Genevieve M. Sabattini, 94, passed away at St. Joseph's Home on July 6, 2018. Genevieve was born in New York, NY, to immigrants, Joseph and Maria. She married Ashel V. "Sam" Sabattini in 1942. He preceded her in passing in 2014. Genevieve was a graduate of Hudson County High School in Bayonne, NJ where she excelled in track. She worked for Sonar Electronics before managing Sabattini Properties. She loved sports, especially football. Her roses, grapes, tomatoes, and sweet basil were supreme. In the kitchen, her marinara was par excellence. She had fun living in her apartment at Montvale Estates. Genevieve had a loving relationship with her parents and her three sisters and brother. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Sue Sabattini; and son-in-law, Bill McAlpine. She is survived by her son, Victor R. Sabattini; daughter, Cynthia McAlpine of Springfield; five grandchildren, Victor A. Sabattini of Laguna Beach, CA, Anthony Vincent Sabattini of Springfield, Paula Sabattini of Shelbyville, Hillary LaMontagne, and Graham (wife, Kristen) LaMontagne of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Reid Brody and Kaden, Ian and Austin Sabattini.
