

George Goleash, 62, of Springfield, died at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO. George was born July 6, 1946 in Springfield, the son of George Peter and Amelia Helen Teimeyer Goleash. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Disable American Veterans, where he was the life of the club, and a past member of the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. In his younger years, George worked for the Illinois Secretary of State. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He is survived by a son, Kris Goleash of Claxton, GA; two daughters, Valerie Goleash of Springfield and Kristel Goleash of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren, Justyce Goleash, Makayla, Shaun, Angelica, Daryl, Travis, Dario and Dareian Davis, Kiara and Stephen Cole and Kari, Kelli and Kyle Goleash; and three sisters, Diane (fianc, Mark) Goleash of Riverton, Darlene (husband, George) Woods of Springfield and Bonnie (husband, Fred) Gorsek of Greenview. Graveside ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense. The family of George Goleash is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
