George H. Stelle

George H. Stelle, 74, of Springfield died peacefully at 5:35 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Oak Terrace HealthCare Center surrounded by his family. George was born January 14, 1941 in Thayer, the son of Benjamin Stelle and Julia Ann Stelle Burns. He married Connie Short on April 29, 1961. George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Stelle of Virden. George graduated from Virden High School. He was involved in business ventures in Virden, Thayer, and Girard before he moved to Springfield in 1972, where he started his career in real estate with Owens-Robbins Real Estate Company. He later worked for John B. Clark, Re/Max Professionals, and Charles E. Robbins. George was instrumental in founding The Real Estate Group in 1998. George went on to develop Breckenridge Subdivision, Chatham (with partner Alan Young), Churchill Estates, and Fox Meadows West Subdivision. George is survived by his wife, Connie; three sons, Jeff (Roxanne Harling) of Springfield, Chris (Ampa) of Chicago, and Jason of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Lilli, Aaron, Madeline Gabriella, and David. He is also survived by one brother, Dennis (Sue) of Chatham and one sister, Barbara Morgan of Elkville; one sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Stelle of Virden; several nieces and nephews. George was a member of the Capital Area Association of Realtors as well as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August, 21, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Radtke officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
