

Georgiann was born January 23, 1929, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Roy Vanwinkle and Helen Morgan Quick. She was married to Alfred W. Hamilton who preceded her in death. Later in life, she returned to Springfield to meet up with her high school friend, JD Bredehoft and they married. JD also preceded her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen; her son, John Eugene Hamilton; and her three sisters.
Georgiann is survived by her son, David (Wendy) Hamilton of Lowell, IN; daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Thomas) Martinotti of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Kimberly and Timothy Growden, Amanda (John) Trubach, and Nicholas (Morgan) Hamilton; five great-grandchildren, Timothy and Allison Growden, Jax Trubach, Cory and Crew Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Georgiann was a dedicated public servant who began her journey of service as an overseas volunteer in Germany during World War II. Upon returning to the States, she built a distinguished 40-year career with the State of Illinois. Working with DCFS first as a social worker and later as the Assistant Director of Grants and Aids for IL. She was a long-time resident of Calumet City, IL, a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield, and later attended Services at Concordia Village where she lived. In her private life, Georgiann was a gifted artisan who found joy in knitting, crocheting and pottery. In years past, she loved playing the organ. She kept a lifelong affection for her dogs.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Concordia Village, 4101 West Iles Avenue, Springfield, IL.
Private burial will be held at Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, IL, at a later date.
