Gloria A. Meyer, 82, of Springfield, died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Regency Nursing Home. Gloria was born on January 20, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Antonio and Adeline Palumbo Caruso. She married Henry "Hank" Meyer on August 31, 1946. Mrs. Meyer worked for the State of Illinois and retired with over forty years of dedicated service. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Preceding Gloria in death were her two brothers; Pasquale and Tony Caruso. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Henry "Hank" Meyer; her dog, Timmy, and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Mausoleum Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 220 S. 2nd St., Springfield, IL 62701, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
