Gordon Russel Rhodes, Jr.

Gordon Rhodes, Jr., 54, of Springfield, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Gordon was born October 19, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Gordon and Betty Wolfe Rhodes. He married Suzann Rhodes on April 18, 1980 in Springfield. Gordon was a 1973 graduate of Lanphier High School. He worked for Designed Roofing before he joined Mel O Cream making donuts. Gordon loved the History Channel, Jeopardy, the Weather Channel and working outside. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gordon is survived by his wife, Suzann Rhodes of Springfield; daughters, Mindy (husband, Matt), Missy (husband, Mike), Shannon, Lily (husband, Tim), P.J. (husband, Justin) and Annie, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa, Mikey, Michael, Marcus, Mykah, Steven and Rose; step-father, Simon West of Auburn; siblings, William E. Rhodes of Clearwater, FL, Larry (wife, Tina) Rhodes of Pawnee, Betty E. Hamblin of China Springs, TX, Janet S. (husband, Bill) Sexton of Moline, Sally J. (husband, Forrest) Hicks of Greenfield, IN, and Paula A. (husband, James) Cook of Edinburg; and step-sister, Shelly West of Auburn. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family graveside ceremonies will be held at a later date.
