

He was born on December 17, 1956 in Springfield, the son of the late Henry and Donna (Cronister) Handley, Sr. He married Cathleen “Cookie” DeFreitas on October 3, 1976 in Springfield and she survives.
Greg worked as a truck driver for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He had previously worked for his family’s business, Handley’s Auto Salvage in Springfield. He was a member of the Teamsters’ Union. Greg loved to play golf and watch it on TV. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a very good athlete as a young man.
Greg knew No stranger and would light up a room with his charismatic personality. Greg’s wife, children and spouses, and grandchildren were his Pride and Joy. Spending time with them was a part of his everyday life. Greg loved his family and would do anything for the ones he loved.
Besides his wife Cookie, he is survived by his 3 children, Candi (William) Keuchler, Joshua (Lacey) Handley, and Gregory (Marsha) Handley, all of Springfield; 6 grandchildren, Mariah, Natori, William, Neela, Natalia, and Easton; 4 siblings, George (Carol) Handley, Larry Handley, Terri (Kelly) Merz, and Sandy Handley, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. No services are scheduled at this time. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
