Gregory L. Williams

He was born on June 9, 1954, in Springfield, the son of the late Harvey J. and Betty I. (Neff) Williams. He married Janice Poole, who preceded him in death in 2005.

Mr. Williams worked as a certified welder and in construction. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1972. His hobbies included woodworking, playing the guitar, and singing. As a young man, he worked with Tennessee Walking Horses for Lancaster Riddle Hill Stables and showed at the Midwest Charity Horse Show. He was a member of South Side Christian Church in Springfield.

He is survived by his companion, Karen Dinora of Springfield; a son, Gregory (Jeni) Williams of Munster, Ind.; a daughter, Tracy Fricke of Jacksonville, Ill.; a sister, Linda Williams, and a brother, Harvey (Judy) Williams, both of Springfield; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tues., Oct. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Old Salem Cemetery, Springfield (west of Bradfordton Road on Old Salem Lane).
