

Guy E. Davis, Sr., 89, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. He was born on December 25, 1918 in Lincoln, the son of William Christ and Rilla Robinson Davis. He was married to Pearl Marshall and she preceded him in death in 1981. Guy served his country during the World War II in the Army from 1943-1946. While in service he earned the Overseas Service Bar, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Guy had previously worked for Fiat-Allis and the Lincoln Correctional Center. Preceding Guy in death were his wife, Pearl, his son, Ronald W. Davis of Lincoln IL, his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Guy is survived by his daughter, Janora A. Crayton of Springfield; his sons, Larry B. Davis of Denver, CO, Richard M. Davis of Los Angeles, CA, and Guy E. (wife, Denise) Davis, Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; his daughter-in-law, Ann Davis of Lincoln; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St, Springfield, IL 62703. A funeral ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County performing military honors.
