

Guy W. Pierceall, 72, of Springfield, died at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home. Guy was born November 15, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Genevieve Ray Pierceall. Guy was a 1960 graduate of Lanphier High School and received his bachelor's in Security Administration from Sangamon State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and Illinois National Guard. He worked for Allis-Chalmers / Fiat Allis for 20 years, prior to earning his degree. He was a security guard for SIU School of Medicine, retiring in 2011 after over 20 years. Guy belonged to a bowling league at King Pin Lanes and enjoyed reading autobiographies and historical novels and collecting WWII and Native American memorabilia. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Genevieve Pierceall of Springfield; longtime companion, Kay H. Virginia of Springfield; one son, J.W. Pierceall of Springfield; three surrogate daughters, Cindy (Rick) Sloan of Wiggins, MS, Sherri Phillips of Champaign, and Terri (Tom) Kerr of Winchester; five grandchildren, Brock Simmert, Tiffany (Andy) Maxwell, Reese and Case Sloan, and Madi Moore; two great-grandchildren, Eliana and Caden Simmert, and one on the way; three siblings, Joseph (Sandy) Pierceall of Kansas City, KS, Donna Pierceall of Springfield, and Van Ray Pierceall of Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
