

Harold Robert ''Bob'' Scharhag, 80, of Springfield, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2001 at his residence. Harold was born May 1, 1921 the son of Peter and Frances Tisanik Scharhag in Milwaukee, WI. He married Fern Nyman November, 10, 1945 in Shell Lake, WI. Mr. Scharhag worked for Illinois Bell as a Transmission Engineer and he retired after 32 years. He was a member of Christ the King Church, a past member of Knights of Columbus #364, a member of a Barber Shop Chorus and a member of the Central Illinois Computer Club. He was veteran of WWII serving in the US ARMY. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, James and Walter Scharhag. He is survived by his wife Fern Scharhag of Springfield; one son: Robert Scharhag of Satellite Beach, FL; three daughters: Carol Sheber of Longwood, FL; Susan Scharhag of Springfield; Cynthia (husband, James) Stark of Wheaton, IL; three grandchildren: Alicia Sheber of Denver, CO, Amy (husband, Jeff) Sheber Howard of Denver, CO and Gavin Stark of Wheaton, IL; two great grandchildren: Matthew and Kateri Sheber Howard; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2001 with a wake service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2001 at Christ the King Church with Reverend David Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
