

Harriet J. Carlile, 75, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Springfield, Illinois, let the angels take her to heaven on, Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Grace Care Center in Tomball, Texas after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. The family would like to thank those involved with her care at Texas Oncology, Grace Care Center, and Dr. Christine Lee and her staff.
Harriet was born January 26, 1937 in White Hall, Illinois, the daughter of William A and Faye L Walker. She married Robert P Carlile on February 16, 1961 in Corinth, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1977.
Harriet graduated from Jacksonville High school in 1955, and served in the Women's Army Core (WAC) from 1955 to 1959 during the Berlin Crisis. She graduated from Springfield School of Practical Nursing on, May 26 1960. Graduated from Sangamon State University with Bachelors degrees in both Sociology and Psychology. She was past President and Treasurer of Catholic Daughters of America Toastmistress Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Harriet worked for St John’s Hospital in Springfield, General Electric and Gallup Poll in Houston Texas.
Harriet is survived by her daughter Jane (Jim) Angus of Houston, Texas, sons Tom (Margaret) Carlile of Tomball, Texas and William (Diana) Carlile of Chatham IL. Six grandchildren, Joseph Carlile of Arlington, VA; Andrea Carlile of Brookings, SD; AJ Angus of Austin, Texas; Vincent Angus of Houston TX; Erin Doyle and Robert Carlile of Tomball, TX.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
