Helen Marie Gibbons

Helen Marie Gibbons, 90, of Springfield died at 4:05 p.m on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Helen was born October 20, 1917 in Springfield, the daughter of Herman J. and Anna Reynolds Oger. She married John L. Gibbons, Sr. on June 22, 1938 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death in 1984. Helen was a kind, loving person. She loved candy, especially chocolate, and really enjoyed feeding everyone. Helen's faith was very important to her; she was a member of Church of the Little Flower. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Louis and John Oger and one sister, Mary Agnes Oger Denning. She is survived by two sons, John L. (wife, Hatti) Gibbons, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM and William M. (wife, Sharon) Gibbons of Springfield; one daughter, Mary Ann (husband, Harold) Fairfield of Conroe, TX; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Rader of Washington and Betty (husband, Robert) Alewelt of Springfield; three brothers, Albert (wife, Pat) Oger of Fremont, CA, Tom (wife, Jean) Oger of Springhill, FL and William (wife, Marilyn) Oger of Vandalia; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Rev. Msgr.
