

Helen Jeanette Haugh, 91, of New Berlin, died at 8:41 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Helen was born October 16, 1922 in New Berlin, the daughter of John Leo and Cecilia Sullivan Haugh. Helen graduated from New Berlin High School and Brown's Business College. She also attended Sangamon State University, where she earned her associate's degree. She began her career with Shell Oil Company in St. Louis as an editor for the company's magazine. She returned to Springfield and worked for Xerox Corporation for 25 years as a systems analyst until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's Altar Society, St. Louise deMarillac Guild of Catholic Charities, and the Alpha Iota Sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James Haugh and John W. "Jack" Haugh. She is survived by her two sisters, Stella Rutledge of Milwaukee, WI and Mary (husband, James, deceased) Alabach of Chesterfield, MO; two nieces, Anne Alabach and Ellen (husband, Loren) Alabach Goodman, both of St. Louis; five nephews, Dan Alabach, Steve (wife, Nikki) Alabach, and Thomas Alabach, all of St. Louis, Jim (wife, Melissa) Alabach of Columbia, MO, and Doug (wife, Jo Marie) Rutledge of Milwaukee, WI; great-nephews, Tyler and Logan Alabach, and Jackson Rutledge; and great-niece, Natalie Goodman. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 E. Birch St., New Berlin with Rev. Hyland Smith, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
