Helen C. Hitzemann, 90, of Springfield, died at 1:12 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Sangamon Care Center. Helen was born October 23, 1912 in Mt. Sterling, IL the daughter of Earl and Clara Logsdon Downs. Ms. Hitzemann was employed by Sangamo Electric for 30 years retiring in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Hoyt and Kermit Downs. She is survived by one son: Matthew (wife, Yoshie) Hitzemann of Springfield; one granddaughter: Debbie (husband, Reggie) Carbonell of Chatham; one great granddaughter: Katie Carbonell of Chatham and two half sisters: Mildred (husband, Cletus) Mt. Sterling, IL and Norma Jean McFeeters of Quincy. Remains were cremated. No services are planned. The family of Helen C. Hitzemann is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
