

Helen was born on July 29, 1917 in Lexington, MO, the daughter of Louis and Ida Roy. She married Robert M. Magill on September 13, 1941 in Springfield; he preceded her in death.
Helen was a graduate of Springfield High School and University of Illinois Champaign, majoring in math and history. She taught high school math at Feitshans High School and Sacred Heart Academy. Helen was President of the Springfield Garden Club and judged for them at the State Fair. She led the Springfield "Right to Life" organization and was a member of St. Joseph's Home Coterie. Helen was dynamic and dignified. She enjoyed bridge, traveling, candy making, flower arranging, and was famous for her Christmas tree coffeecake. Most of all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Magill; and two siblings, Edith Kovski and Leona Dwyer.
She is survived by her four sons, Michael (wife, Barbara), Jeffrey (wife, Anne), James (wife, Beth Collins), and Thomas (wife, Elyse) Magill; three daughters, Molly (husband, Jeff) Fortuna, Elizabeth Magill, and Kathryn Morgan; twenty grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two nieces, Carol Sipes and Sue Hamilton; and one nephew, John Kovski.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1920 Barberry Dr., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Chiola officiating and Deacon Al Laabs assisting. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
