Helen F. Mitchell

She was born in Towanda, IL December 7, 1916 the daughter of Bernie and Margaret Sweeney Stover. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Illinois State University. Her parents and her 2 sisters; Eleanor Peden and Mary Lou Stover preceded her in death.

Helen married Leslie T. Mitchell at the family farm in Towanda, January 1, 1942, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Margaret Lamsargis of Springfield, her 2 sons; Leslie F. (wife Kathy) Mitchell of Washington, IL and Robert W. Mitchell of Springfield. She has 4 grandchildren; Pam (husband Dave) Cain of Washington, IL, Brittney (husband Kelby) Trowbridge, Stacey Lamsargis and Lacy Mitchell all of Springfield. 3 great grandsons; Kevin, Kyle, and Kody Cain all of Washington, IL. and her sister, Margaret Dady of Normal, IL There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen taught for many years at both the Browns Business School in Springfield, and the Illinois Business School. She then retired from the Internal Revenue Service, Springfield Office where she was a tax consultant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield and the American Association of University Women.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, IL where visitation will be Monday, February 11, 2013 from 3-6 pm. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the East Lawn Funeral Home 1002 Airport Rd., Bloomington, IL from 11:00 am until time of funeral services there at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Randall Perry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pennell Cemetery, Towanda, IL.
