Helen A. Patterson

Helen A. "Betty" Patterson, 74, died at 11:03 a.m. on Monday, December 26, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. Betty was born March 11, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Mary Markey Bartlett. Betty was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was proud to have worked for the State of Illinois in the Department of Human Services for a long time. She belonged to the St. Louise Marillac and the Postal Auxiliary. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed country music. Betty was a beloved mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Daniel Joseph Patterson, Jr. and Charles Robert Patterson; three brothers, Wilbur, Donald "Abner" and Larry Bartlett; one sister, Judy; and her former husband, Daniel J. Patterson, Sr. She is survived by her children, Linda Patterson, Eileen (husband, Charles) Adams, John (wife, Beth) Patterson, and Don Patterson; six grandchildren, Amber and Nicole of Riverton and Erin, Alex, Scott and Joey, all of Springfield; siblings, Robert (wife, Gloria) Bartlett, James (wife, Nancy) Bartlett, Ed (wife, Karen) Bartlett, Mary "Honey" Council, Patricia Heine, Alice (husband, Charles) Paoni, Donna Bartlett and Nancy Dean, all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield, with Rev.
