Henry Dale Gilbert

He was born in Springfield, July 16, 1942 the son of Henry J. and Margaret M. Sprouse Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles and his nephew, Jerry Lyons.

Dale retired in 1991 from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue where he served as a Data Input Operator for many years. Dale was also an auctioneer. He loved going to auctions especially when his nephew would accompany him, seeking out special and unique items. He was a past member of the Pawnee Lion’s Club, a member of AARP, and a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church. Dale served as an election judge and also served on the Zoning Board in Pawnee. He was an avid BINGO player and devoted his time to his family and friends, never missing his niece and nephews events and activities.

Surviving are his two sisters; Sandra Myers of Springfield, and Mary Lyons of Pawnee, IL., several nieces and nephews including; Sherri (husband Marcus) Schnetz of Springfield, Bob (wife Mary Beth) Myers, Mark (wife Jackie) Myers, and Keith (companion Shelia) Myers all of Chatham, IL., and Dr. Kris (husband Steve) Myers-Stuenkel , and his great nieces and nephews; Zachary, Noah, Tayler, Alex, and Wesley Myers, Christopher Pettit, and Joey Stuenkel.

Visitation: Wednesday June 13, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen Springfield, IL

Funeral Service: Thursday June 14, 2012 at 10 am at the Pawnee United Methodist Church 402 6th Street Pawnee, IL 62558. Rev. Florene Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, those that wish may direct memorial contributions to the Pawnee United Methodist Church.
