

Henry was born December 6, 1923 in Exie, KY, the son of Hubert Burton and Alice T (Parnell) Moss. He married Mary Ridlen on November 24, 1957 at Third Presbyterian in Springfield.
Henry proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed as a Salesman throughout his life including JR. Watkins, Gainer Mills, Phillips AG, and Grower Service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 32 and a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Chatham and Lutheran Family Services. Henry enjoyed lawn care and working.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Henry Moss, Jr. “Sonny”; granddaughter, Julie Moss; and foster brother, Archie Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Moss of Springfield; grandchildren, Jodie (husband, Doug) Lublin of Chatham, Claire Moss of Greenville, SC, and Sarah Moss of Charleston, SC; and nieces and nephew.
The family would like to thank the Villa Sherman, HSHS St. John’s Hospital and Hospice for their compassion and care of Henry.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 2941 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield with Rev. Nicole Cox officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
