

Howard W. “Bill” Davis, 65 of Springfield, died at 5:52 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at his residence. Bill was born July 30, 1939 in Granite City, IL, the son of James Raymond and Lila Marie Stevens Davis. He married Barbara Blankenship on February 8, 1964 at the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran, life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 and AMVETS. He attended Knox Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed bowling, throwing horseshoes and playing slowpitch softball for the Friday Nighters. He had formerly been employed as a foreman for Woodside Township. Bill was preceded in death by his father, two sisters: Juanita Waltemeth and Sharon Meeks. He is survived by his wife: Barbara Davis of Springfield; son: Ricky (wife, Janice) Davis of Springfield; daughters: Teresa Kay “Terry” (husband, Ron) Bisby of Springfield, Donna Davis-Ward of Palmer, TX, Deborah (husband, Bruno) Casson of New Berlin, Jo Ann (husband, Mike) Gustin of Springfield; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren; mother: Lila Marie Vermilye of Pocahantas, AR; sisters: Sue Harlan and Marlene Jordan both of Springfield, Kathy (husband, Rich) Goodwin of Montgomery City, MO, Alice (husband, Frank) Hall of Illinois; brothers: Roger (wife, Linda) Davis, Chuck (wife, Shirley) Davis, Bob (wife, Janet) Davis, Gene Davis all of Springfield and Larry Davis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15, 25 Club Area, Springfield, IL 62712.
