Irene "Beanie" Uberbacher Howard, 91, of Springfield, gained her angel wings on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Irene was born November 30, 1923 in Springfield, the daughter of Louie and Antonia Uberbacher. She married Robert B. Howard on October 25, 1942 in Little Rock, AR. Irene was a loving and caring person, who put her family first. She enjoyed crocheting, making pillow cases, holiday baking, playing cards, reading a good book, and listening to Patsy Cline. Most of all, she enjoyed her weekly girls day outings and playing catch with her great-grandson and their special yellow ball. Her favorite saying was "O boy." She was a retired hairdresser. She will be forever loved and missed. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Howard Hulett; granddaughter, Melanie Hulett; and two great-grandbabies. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Robert Howard; daughter, Jean Howard Hulett (husband, Dave), granddaughters, Melissa Hulett McCoy (husband, Nick) and Julie Hulett Lewis (husband, Robert III); and great-grandson, Nicholas McCoy II. We would like to thank the ER staff and staff on 4G at Memorial Medical Center, as well as the nurses and staff at St. John's Hospice for their support and care during Irene's stay. Private family services were held.
