Irving H. Hawley and Mary Evelyn Hawley

Irving was born in Greenville, IL on July 19, 1910. He attended Purdue Univ. He married Mary Evelyn Shepard on May 27, 1939 in Lake Charles, LA. They moved to Springfield where he was employed as a civil engineer by C&IM Railroad until his retirement. He died on March 27, 1995.

Mary was born in Clinton, IL on September 2, 1914 where she lived until her marriage to Irving. After moving to Springfield, she spent her life taking care of their home and family. She died on January 4, 2011 at Christian Garden Villa, surrounded by her family.

They had three children: John Hawley of Houston, TX; Millie (Bob) Hellyer of Springfield; and Martha (Dale) Isaacson, deceased. There are seven grandchildren: Christina (Murat) Yaman, TX; Kim (Mark) Dresch, Chatham; Brad (Kate) Milliman, Springfield; Jeff (Becky) Isaacson, NC; Leanne (Scott) Prochniak, NY; Eric (Kim) Isaacson, IN; and Jamie (Tim) Fenimore, WA. There are also 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. on Sat., Jan. 8, 2011 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel in Springfield. A private interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery will follow.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis, MO or Christian Garden Villa (Lewis Memorial Christian Village) in Springfield
