

Jack W. Brinkmeyer of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Barbara K. Brinkmeyer, whom he married in 1944, and by his parents, Dorothy Jones and Leonard Brinkmeyer. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Virginia E. Brinkmeyer, his son, Scott (Carol) Brinkmeyer, daughter, Debra (Mike) Shaughnessy; grandchildren, Lara, Megan and Matthew Brinkmeyer, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jennifer (Jeremy) Reese, and Colin (Victoria) Shaughnessy, great grandchild Kameryn Shaughnessy, of San Clemente and Los Angeles, California; and Virginia's sons, Gregg (Deb) Toelle and Kevin Toelle, and grandchildren, Michelle and John Toelle, of Springfield, Illinois. Mr. Brinkmeyer spent 35 years with IBM, serving as branch manager in Springfield for nine years. He was a proud Veteran of WWII, having served as a fighter pilot with the 8th Air Force in England. Mr. Brinkmeyer was a volunteer for more than 11 years at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. An avid boater and fisherman, he was a long-standing member of Island Bay Yacht Club in Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of a memorial ceremony at 11:00 am on Friday, August, 21, 2009 at Christ the King, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, officiating. Private family burial of cremated remains will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated and can be made to Hospice Care of Sangamon County, 319 E. Madison, Suite 3N, Springfield, IL 62701.
