

Jack was born April 11, 1953, in Springfield, IL, the son of Jack Sr. and Judith Thompson Haynes. He married Cathy Henson on October 6, 1973, in Springfield, IL.
Jack graduated from Southeast High School in 1971. While at Southeast, he took the track hurdles home because Southeast didn’t have a track for him to practice on. Jack then went on to earn his associate’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College in 1974 where he was on the track team. He had the city record for high hurdles in track for over ten years in the 180 yard low hurdles and 120 high hurdles. He was a Christian and deeply loved Jesus Christ. Jack was employed with CWLP as a security officer for over 28 years. He previously worked for the State of Illinois as a correctional officer and security at Fiat Allis. Jack was an illustrator, painter, reader, and gamer who loved to listen to all genres of music and drive his Mustang convertible.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cathy Haynes of Springfield; son, Jack Alexander Haynes of Chicago; daughter, Amber Haynes of Springfield; siblings, Mark (Debra) Haynes, Sean (Aslee) Haynes, and Sharon Haynes, all of Springfield; two aunts, Janet Covington and Kay Holifeld; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
