

Jacqueline M. Armstrong, 87, of Springfield, died at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. John's Hospital. Jacqueline was born August 2, 1928 in Springfield, the daughter of John W. and Margaret Novick Thompson. She married Robert Thomas Armstrong on June 14, 1952 at St. Agnes Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on June 27, 1983. Jacqueline was a 1946 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and received her X-Ray Technician Certificate from Springfield College. She worked for the Springfield Diocese, retiring after more than 25 years of service. Jacqueline was a member of Christ the King Parish for the last 14 years and was a charter member of the Church of St. Jude in Rochester. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, in addition to traveling and learning about the world. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Armstrong; one brother, James Thompson; and one sister, Patricia Roth. She is survived by four children, David (wife, Sharen) Armstrong of Denver, CO, Mary Beth (husband, Alan) Watts of Springfield, Jane (husband, Gene) Schmittgens of St. Louis, MO, and Susan (husband, John) Luckey of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Sarah Armstrong of St. Paul, MN; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
